Let's not talk about food today. My mother-in-law (MIL) was not feeling well yesterday morning and had to send her to the hospital.
The nearest hospital would be N*H and she had been a patient in that hospital before 20 over years back. Thus, that would probably be the best idea to send her there.
Thinking along, almost a year back, Hubby was also admitted to N*H due to his high blood pressure. It shoots up to 220/180, which could declare "death" as it was dangerously super high, and he was in HD ward for 4-5 days. Honestly I dislike the idea of going N*H after having that scenario in my mind.
During that time, Hubby was in HD with the strongest medication on drip and orally. Nurses informed us that he had to be bedridden. Since Hubby is in HD, we suppose we will get to see his doctor in charge to explain on my Hubby's condition. To my disappointment, for the 4-5 days in HD, no doctors are here, not even any doctors on rounds. Asking the nurses, they said doctors are busy. Even the nurses are not sure if there are any doctors on rounds in the morning checking on my Hubby.
To the extent that I have to chase and demand to see the doctor in charge on his condition. Surprisingly, after chasing for 2 days, one female doctor called us up instead of talking to us face-to-face. And her explaination was: "I am not too sure as I am only the on-call doctor and the doctor in charge is busy, therefore I could only give u a brief understanding on his current condition." Then after half a day or so, after my demanding request, another called without giving me a proper description too.
Only after long demanding of leaving the HD, then we get to see one on-call doctor. Whatever he told us and the doctors told us on the phones is totally different too. Doctors who had spoken to us on the phone told us Hubby had a little blood brusing in his head which seems more like a little "bruised" which will go off by itself. But the doctor who spoke to us in person told us its a serious condition as this could be the cause of his blood shooting up. Weird right! With them telling us all different stories.
What we are frustrated is:
1) Since Hubby's condition is so crucial that he had to be bedridden in HD for that many days, why are the doctors in-charge not here to inform us on his condition
2) Since no doctors in-charge is here to explain to us in-person on his condition, does that means he could move around or move to the normal ward instead of the HD ward
3) Doctors are not professional at all. Different doctors giving different information on his condition.
4) Since Hubby's condition is not crucial as it seems for the doctors as none of the doctors appeared to explain to the family members, then why stopped him from discharging from the hospital.
Lots of other frustrating things but if we continue, this would be a super long complain on a year back incident. But still till now we have no confidence in N*H.
Nevertheless on all this complains, there are still some very nice doctors and nurses. I really take my hat off to some super nice nurses with BIG hearts! Everyone knows elderly patients when they are sick their stools and urine stinks. Even for myself, when my beloved granny is sick in the hospital, we had to assists her in her "businesses", I am not able to stand the smell. But nurses are able to do cleaning for them and change their diapers or whatsoever. Some have to attend to female patients who had just given birth. Washing and changing their soiled pads and even cleaning for them. WOW! This is so hard to understand how they could take it and still able to provide the best service and care to the patients. But I really "Salute" them!
Overall, this is my opinion on all that was seen by me and experienced. Just hope they will improve on their services and allow the patients to feel comfortable to be in their hands. Cheers!
